Galeria Amarte is an airy dome of white stucco with large windows to the surrounding garden, its form creating a unique environment for experiencing and appreciating the arts. The gallery exhibits a rotating collection of works and hosts individual and group shows including sculpture in ceramic, bronze and wood; oil painting, watercolor, serigraphy, engraving, photography. And not only the plastic arts have a home here; the gallery is a gathering spot for free performances by the best artists from the rich local music scene, classical and modern dance, performance art, book signings and cultural lectures, as well as a resource for literary workshops and art classes. As a further arm of its community involvement, the gallery sponsors visits from local school groups and musical recitals by local students.

Galeria Amarte is the anchor of the Amarte Cultural Center/Maroma Foundation, a non-profit organization whose goals include sponsoring cultural activities, celebrating and protecting the delicate ecology of the surrounding jungle and reefs, and promoting low-impact high-style development which harmonizes the needs of humans and nature.
